The AK Centre is a voluntary advice agency, providing free information, advice guidance and support on matters of Welfare Rights, Health, Domestic Violence, Immigration, Nationality, Employment and Education. We operate an open access drop-in service, helping people of all backgrounds and abilities. The Centre was established in 1968 and we are a registered charity, we hold an Exemption Certificate from the ‘Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner’ to give immigration advice.
We are based in Washwood Heath, Birmingham. The area has suffered from high levels of deprivation. It has a large BAMER population, there is high unemployment within the ward.
Our mission is to make a lasting difference in the lives of the most vulnerable people in our community and to help them become more independent.
We operate a drop-in service, when you arrive the receptionist will take your details and will then direct you to one of our qualified advisors by turn.
We are based in Washwood Heath on the main Alum Rock Road, about 15 minutes away from Birmingham City Centre.
